Pipe Quick Edit

Postby twdotson » Mon Apr 13, 2015 2:42 pm

This new tool is still in the prototyping stage.

Command: PipQuiEdt

The original thoughts involved a floating palette for editing, but based on feedback so far we will instead try to mimic the behavior of AeccQuickEditFeatureElevs, including the temporary graphics.

We don't want to have to go up and over to a palette for this.. (but keep it as an option for the user to turn on)

We want to hover over the inverts and slope and have just the invert or slope we are hovering over displayed... then make it a command line edit. Just like Quick Elevation Edit

Okay would there be any consideration for structures, if you hover over them?

Yes, it would be great to be able to edit the Sump Elevation

So when changing the pipe, if the new ends fall outside the range of the begin/end structures, simply raise the rim or lower the sump? I notice that if you right-click edit, Civil3D does this. If we do this, there shouldn't be an issue of the other connected pipes, causing a cascading problem?

Rims typically target a surface and sump elevations move relative to lowest outgoing pipe.

Started the changeover to command based tool with tonight's build, still much to be done.

I see the command is up on the Ribbon now...

Yes, this is now producing the nimble "Quick Elevation Edit" behavior with the temporary glyphs that we were looking for...

We added a pass thru when hovering so it ignores labels and other geometry, we like this revision. However on the actual selection we can only limit what is acceptable and it currently requires care to actually pick the pipe (or ProfilePart). Let us know if this is a problem, we may be able to find a workaround.

We are currently breaking down the pipe range as follows:
0%-14.9% Starting Invert ... 15.0%-49.9% Starting Slope ... 50.0%-85.0% Ending Slope ... 85.1%-100% Ending Invert
So the prompting varies depending on your position along the pipe.

Right now when you hover over a ProfilePart the tooltop shows on the ProfilePart but the graphic markers show on the actual pipe, any thoughts on that? Clicking the ProfilePart gets you the right prompt, and makes the changes, but do the graphics need to be up on the ProfilePart?

Just did a quick test:

1) The invert labels are updating during the command, but not the pipe slope label.
2) I can't change the uphill invert by editing the uphill pipe slope... I can change the downhill invert by editing the downhill pipe slope.
