Feature Line - Quick Daylight

Postby Lincoln » Sat May 23, 2015 12:07 pm

1) Choose an existing feature line
2) Select the surface
3) Pick the side to daylight to and the desired daylight slope
4) The routine create a new feature line with elevations from the selected surface located at the desired projected slope away from the original feature line.

I'm thinking this would be a sub-option to an extend option.

Extend [Begin/Ending]:
Extend to [Distance/Elevation/Surface]:

This is a great idea for a new routine - I wish I'd thought of it..... ;) ;) and hopefully wouldn't have the baggage that gradings bring.

The type of grading that corridors and grading objects execute in Civil 3D is lateral projection grading. This new command is the projection of a feature line in the same sense.

So the term Projection would be more appropriate. Extend typically refers to an operation coming off the end of an object.

I agree with the Projection terminology

Sorry for the delay, this tool has been added to the current version (7.0). Existing users run Check for Updates and look for Figure > Draw Daylight.
